AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player who plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe from the year 2018 to 2020. [8][98][9] Morgan was picked as number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she had graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. She made her debut in professional football and played in the team's win of the league title. Morgan, who was 22 at the time, was the youngest player of the national team in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the match against Canada during the 123rd minute of the semi-final at the 2012 London Olympics. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman to score 20 goals and score 20 assists within the same calendar year . making her the sixth the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments as well as winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
